These security screens were designed and installed for the sexual health clinic at the MRI in Manchester. A safe and secure barrier was needed for the six bay reception desk. Due to the layout and varying heights of the counter, we used a combination of stainless steel posts with pressure clamps and 2 part channel to secure the Hammer-glass. The client wanted the desk to be fully screened off to the ceiling so we incorporated Melaphone speech panels into each bay to enable staff and patients can communicate clearly. We also designed each screen with a cutout at the bottom so documents and samples can be passed through. Hammer-glass was chosen instead of toughened glass due to it being 300 times stronger and virtually unbreakable. We used 12 mm single glazed Hammer-glass for this project due to the size of the screens, it also comes in different thicknesses for different applications. We can incorporate Hammer-glass into double and triple glazed units for windows and doors for extra security. Lookout for other security screen projects.
