A balcony or a terrace is a great place to relax, from reading a book to entertaining friends and family on a summer afternoon. It is even better when you are surrounded with a quality glass balustrade to keep you safe without interrupting your view.

We can make your commercial or domestic balcony or terrace compliant by installing one of the many balustrade options available to the correct standards.

Every job is different, whether it’s a small 2 metre balcony or a 20 metre terrace we approach every job with the same ethos. That is to provide the best professional advice to every potential customer for a cost effective solution. With balconies and terraces, particular attention needs to be focused on potential breaches of waterproofed areas when fixing a balustrade to the proposed surface. We have extensive experience in selecting the correct fixing and sealing methods gained through 20 years in this area of expertise. We know what to do and what not to do.

Glass Juliet balconies are a great addition and solution to the upper floors of properties when you have opening inward doors but no walk out balcony.

A glass Juliet is a panel or panels of glass that are fixed to the structure of the building by using a type of glazing system. We have frameless, semi frameless and framed options available. Once installed, doors can be left open to let light and air into the upper rooms whilst having peace of mind about safety.

Our frameless options give an infinity view from inside the room due to the unobstructed view it gives you.

All options and designs will differ depending of the fabric and structure of your building.

We can design and install glass Juliet balconies onto loft dormer openings with tiled or slated facades. This type of project would need more thought and care due to the brittleness of the building materials we are securing the heavy glass panels around.

Compared to a more straightforward first floor Juliet into a brick façade.

No matter what the complexity of the job, we follow the same health and safety guidelines, and building regulations requirements on every job we do.

At the design stage we will discuss with you the best options available. Sometimes this can be a simple discussion, or if it’s a more complex job we can liaise with your builder to discuss any alterations or additions that are sometimes needed to take the weight of a large glass panel.

Take a look at the different styles of Juliet Balconies we have installed.

We supply and install glass balustrades to staircases in domestic and commercial buildings across Greater Manchester, Cheshire and beyond. Whether it is a refurbishment of an old staircase or a new build, we have a complete range of styles and materials we can use to get the look you want with a new glass balustrade.

The great thing about glass is that it can compliment many other surrounding materials, which makes glass perfect for staircase’s. We specialise in renovations, so we can transform a tired looking staircase by removing your spindles and replacing with glass infill panels that are clamped to your baserail and handrail. You won’t believe the sense of space and light that can be created by this type of upgrade.

We also do lots of work on new build projects for architects, designers and builders. Many of these projects tend to want a frameless glass design, therefore no handrails or visible fixings or glazing systems. This can create the visual of floating glass protruding out from a staircase or landing area. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have a similar project in mind.

Working across sectors & industries

North West Balustrades prides itself on being able to find balustrade installation solutions no matter the sector or industry. Here are just a few examples of how our products have benefitted various residential, commercial, public sector and industrial applications.

Healthcare – NHS

As well as working for domestic customers we also specialise in working on commercial buildings. We have recently completed the first phase of a commercial contract within the healthcare sector for our client. We have worked on a number of primary care centres in the Manchester area. The clients brief was to provide a strong and secure safety and security barrier to the reception area desks that were aesthetically pleasing. Each centre needed its own individual design to follow the shape and layout of the desks. The materials used needed to compliment the surroundings within each building and the design needed to be practical so the staff and patients can communicate clearly and exchange documents and samples easily.

The final designs were agreed with the client and the stainless steel posts and glass clamps were the perfect choice, along with 10mm toughened glass.Due to the nature and use of these Primary Care Centres, the project works needed to be completed out of normal working hours.

Once complete the staff were very happy with their new working environment. They felt safe and secure with the new reception screens without feeling “fenced in”. This was considered by us at the design stage, so we created plenty of space above and below each glass panel without compromising the safety and security of the staff.
